Houses around the World

We have been learning all about houses and homes from different places around the world! We found out that people live in all kinds of homes — from igloos, to yurts, stilt houses, tree houses, and terraced houses!

We had so much fun using recyclable materials to make our own models of these amazing houses. Everyone worked really hard and used lots of imagination and teamwork.

Don’t they look amazing? We think we did a great job! 🏡

October in Room 6

It was a spooky end to the month as we finished up for mid-term with a Halloween dress-up day and parade, a 'Monster Mash' and our 'Spooktacular' attendance awards.

Well done to all these girls who had full attendance for the month of October.

One lucky girl in our class won a super prize of a cinema voucher in the Attendance draw- well done Lily-Mae!

Here are some of the things we've been doing this month:

Painting and printing autumn trees.

Exploring 2D shape.

Creating positive & negative space Pumpkins.

We have several more fun activities coming up in November so ...watch this space...!

Room 7 turns spooky!

We had an amazing time celebrating Halloween in our school this week! Everyone came in wearing their Halloween costumes, and our classroom looked so spooky! 👻We had Wednesday Addams, Harry Potter, devils, skeletons, witches, and so many other scary characters.

We also had our Spooktacular Attendance celebration. All the children who came to school every day this term won a special prize! Well done to everyone who got perfect attendance- keep up the great work!

Maths Week in Room 7

We started the week with a Maths Trail around the school, where we explored and searched for 2D shapes hidden around the school. Everyone became shape detectives, spotting ovals, semi-circles, circles, triangles and many more in places we’d never noticed before!

We also took part in a bead challenge, where we had to use only six beads to make numbers. It really got us thinking creatively and working together to solve problems.

Later in the week, we joined the Senior Infants for some exciting maths games. It was great fun helping each other, counting and playing together while practising our maths skills.

But the highlight of the week for everyone was definitely using the Bee-Bots! We programmed the little robots to move in different directions, practising our problem-solving skills. It was amazing to see our code come to life as the Bee-Bots buzzed around the classroom!

We had a fantastic time during Maths Week, and we can’t wait to keep exploring how maths is all around us every day.

2nd Class girls enjoy football after school!

Over the past six weeks, our Second Class girls have really enjoyed taking part in football training after school. They have been busy learning lots of new skills, including hand passing, soloing, and working together as a team.

One of the highlights was getting to play on our brand new football pitch! The girls loved practicing their skills, scoring goals and points.

There were smiles all around as everyone showed great effort, enthusiasm, and teamwork. It certainly looks like we have some talented new footballers in the making! Well done, girls! ⚽👏

A Special Visitor in Room 7

We had a very special visitor in Room 7 last week- Clare Bear. She came to spend the week with us as a reward for our improved attendance, and what a fun week it was. Clare Bear joined us for all our activities. She sat at our tables, did her work and listened so carefully during lessons.

One of the best parts of her visit was when we made Rice Krispie buns together. Everyone helped to stir and scoop. Even Clare Bear had a turn!

To finish off her visit, we had a teddy bears picnic. We brought in our own teddies and all the teddies, along with Clare Bear enjoyed a 'Teddy ?Bear tea party.

We will miss Clare Bear and hope she might come back to visit us again soon!
