Space in Room 9

Our theme for November was Space. We learned about Neil Armstrong and Valentina Tereshkova. The children discussed everything they knew about space and what they wanted to learn. Then they generated their own questions to answer about space. They learned the names of the 8 planets in the solar system and their order from the sun. We talked about what makes day and night and did lots of art activities. Our favourite activity was when we worked in groups and learned about one particular planet/the sun in detail. We learned that some planets have more than one moon. It was a very entertaining month!

 In November, we learned how to read the clock. We know how to read the clock on the hour and the half hour. We counted in 1's and 5's to 60. We know there are 60 minutes in an hour. We made clocks with moving hands so we can practise at home.
