Exploring in Fabric and Fibre

We are learning about materials this month. We made sock snowmen and penguins. We stuffed a sock and tied them up with elastic bands. We designed hats and scarves and clothes. We planned how to add features using different materials. Take a look at our work:

Happy New Year Room 9

Welcome back to all the boys and girls in 1st class. We hope you had a lovely break after all of your hard work in the first term. This month we wil be learning about houses and homes and money. In Room 9, we are setting up our very own class shop. We have been looking at the different coins we can use and deciding what items will be available to buy in the shop. We played with lots of coins and some children sorted them by colour, some children sorted them in their groups and some children compared how much they had by counting. We talked about how coins have different values and how having more coins doesn't mean you have more value. Next, we will be pricing the items for our class shop and looking at different combinations of coins to make different prices. We will practise swapping smaller coins for bigger value coins too.
