Room 9 Play time!

We work hard, we play hard! Today was our Ipad day. We had some free time and some children decided to play maths games on their ipads, some did animations and others decided to continue their STEM project on building boats. 👷‍♂️ We have to design them, select waterproof materials and build them by ourselves. Every piece of tape is cut by their own hands, and constructed by their own hands. Teacher is only allowed to help if someone needs some glue!! Next, we will test them and see how many passengers we can carry. Stay tuned for more photos!!!

Magnets in Room 9

In April, we learned about magnets. First we talked about what we already knew. We knew that some magnets "stick" to other objects and we knew some magnets are blue and red or shaped like a horse shoe. We said that magnets can stick to metal. Then we investigated by playing with a variety of magnets. We picked our own materials to test in the classroom and in the yard and we had great fun. We learned that the correct words to use for materials that stick or do not stick are attract and repel. During our play we discover that not all metals are magnetic. We checked several things in the classroom as well as different types of coins and they weren't attracted to the magnet. So cool! Finally, we used our magnets to move things without touching them. We designed a game using this concept. We drew underwater scenes, football pitches, mazes and race tracks and used our magnet to move a magnetic character on the top.

Take a look at our pictures below:

Habitat Study

If you go down to the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise....

Today we had an amazing day! We went to a local forest and searched for lots of different trees and wildlife! We saw horse chestnut trees, beech, oak, fern and much, much more. We ran and played with our friends and had great fun. Can we go again, Mrs. Leonard?
